Public Relations for the Faint at Heart

Most of you met me at the Training Leadership Institute in your Division to start of this new Toastmasters year. For those who don’t know me, allow me to introduce myself. I am Trisha Trixie Hunter-Merrill. However, most people trip over all that alliteration so you can call me Trixie!

I have over 20+years as a Web and Social Media Strategist, as well as many other roles in life.

Rhea Thompson, immediate past District Director, often teases me by asking me “What haven’t you done?!?!?” Though I have had many roles, as you can see, the one that keeps sticking and coming back around is always, Web and Social Media.

I have been in Toastmasters since 2016, the same year I found out I had cancer. I am in Cancer Remission now and happy to be here and to share my talents.

Last year, I was honored to be asked to be the District 26 Social Media Chair. I taught a few VPPR trainings, shared some tips in District Training Leadership Institute classes, helped out at a few events, and did whatever I could to help you understand, learn and grow through Social Media. Since Social Media is under the PR umbrella, I will still be here to help you if needed, though now my focus has shifted a bit.

I really want to be able to tap the potential of the millennial.

Our new Social Media Chair Jillian Gibson will be a great resource not only in her Social Media role but also as a Millennial. She’ll help us understand where they reside online and what else in PR we can do to attract and retain our millennial members (which only constitute 2% of Toastmasters Membership, BTW).

We have lots of changes in Public Relations this year that I and my team is excited to share with you!

Meet the PR Dream Team!

I look forward to a new year with lots of great things to show you, share with you and help you with! I am always here for you.
