Every year our Toastmasters district looks for a new set of servant leaders to take us another year into the future. We need new ideas, new visions, new inspirations. We need you.

Deadline for Nominations March 1, 2027

Serving in District Leadership is a powerful opportunity to grow as both a Communicator and a Leader. Elected District Leaders play a vital role in advancing educational excellence and strengthening clubs. As active members in good standing, they provide strategic guidance, support club officers, and uphold the mission of Toastmasters throughout the District. Through their example and encouragement, they inspire volunteer leaders and cultivate a culture of ongoing growth and achievement.

Elected Positions

The elected positions in District 26 are the District Director, Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director and the Seven (7) Division Directors.

During the August 2026 Toastmasters Convention Board Briefing, it was announced that beginning with the election cycle for the 2027-2028 program year, the leadership sequence will change from District Director, Program Quality Director, and Club Growth Director to the following revised sequence:

• District Director
• Club Growth Director
• Program Quality Director

As part of this change, candidates for District Director must have completed a full term as Club Growth Director. In addition, for the 2027-2028 election cycle only the Board of Directors has approved the following transition provisions:

A. Current 2026-2027 Program Quality Directors who have not served 12 months as a Club Growth Director are eligible to be elected as District Director for the 2027-2028 program year.

B. Current 2026-2027 Club Growth Directors may choose to seek nomination and election for a second consecutive year as Club Growth Director for the 2027-2028 program year.

C. Current 2026-2027 Club Growth Directors may seek to become Program Quality Director in 2027-2028 as third highest-ranking officer, to gain deeper experience before proceeding to other leadership roles in the future.

The revised progression is intended to provide leaders with an enhanced development path, beginning with support for club quality and the members experience, progressing to club and membership growth, and culminating in responsibility for leading and supporting the entire District.

The Role of the District Leadership Committee

The District Leadership Committee (DLC), chaired by Immediate Past District Director, Ruth Prentice, DTM, conducts interviews and evaluates all candidates, and nominates the best candidates for elected positions. All candidates for elected office (including floor candidates) must be interviewed by the District Leadership Committee.

If you are interested in serving in a district office, please read the information below to familiarize yourself with the rules and procedures.

Candidates may nominate themselves (highly encouraged) or another member can do it for you. Each nominee must complete and submit the required documents to the District Leadership Committee Chair. The documents are being updated to include the new progression data. Meanwhile, you can review the forms and items that will be needed from you when you declare your candidacy.

Elections are held at the Annual District Council Business Meeting each Spring. For 2027, the meeting will take place virtually, via Zoom on Saturday, April 24 If you’re attending the District Conference, elected Officers will be installed during the event.

Election Process Overview

Nomination Process

All nominations and documents for elected positions must be submitted to the District Leadership Committee Chair (DLC Chair) at IPDD[at]d26leaders[dot]org by March 1, 2027.

Nominees for office will be interviewed by members of the DLC. After interviews are completed, the DLC will provide the current District Director with a list of candidates approved to run for elected positions.

Election Calendar

• Deadline for Nominations to Elected Positions: March 1, 2027
• Candidate interviews: February through March.
• District Officer Election (During District Council Meeting): April 24, 2027.
• Floor Candidates – submit applications to districtdirector[at]d26leaders.org by midnight 1 week before the 2027 District Council Meeting for Open Leadership Roles.

The DLC is also tasked with reviewing applications for and interviewing for the following appointed positions:

• Public Relations Manager
• Administration Manager
• Finance Manager
• Area Directors
• Logistics Manager *
• Parliamentarian *
• Club Extension Chair
• Club Retention Chair

Appointments for these positions usually take place after the district elections by the District-Director Elect.
