The District Executive Committee (DEC) in Toastmasters is a group of leaders who guide and manage the district. Its members include the District Director, Program Quality Director, Club Growth Director, Immediate Past District Director, Division Directors, Area Directors, Administration Manager, Public Relations Manager, and Finance Manager. We work together to ensure the district achieves its goals and supports its clubs and members. A majority of the DEC members must be present to conduct business at a meeting.

District 26 Toastmasters is comprised of 30 Area Directors, eight division directors, three managers, the immediate past district director and three trio members for a total of 46 members.

  • Council vs. Committee:

It’s important to note that the DEC is distinct from the District Council, although they have overlapping members.

DEC vs. District Council:

While the DEC focuses on the day-to-day management of the district, the District Council is a broader body that includes the DEC, Club Presidents, and Club VPEs (Vice Presidents Education). The District Council meets less frequently, usually twice a year, and has voting powers regarding district matters.  In essence, the DEC is the executive arm of the district, while the District Council provides broader oversight and governance.
