Introducing...
Dana Morgan, DTM
District 26 Governor 2007-2008
I have been a Toastmaster for over twelve years. I have been a member of both corporate and community clubs. I began Toastmasters just like everyone else, to improve, grow, and to have fun. I have never been disappointed.
During my twelve years I have held each club officer position and was trained each time at Toastmasters Leadership Institute. I believe in the training that Toastmasters provides: detailed, interactive, helpful and fun.
Over the years I have started four clubs and am a charter member of five clubs. To me, there is nothing more exciting than to see new members stepping out of their comfort zone, gaining self confidence and making friends. It has been my privilege to participate in numerous demo meetings and mentor four successful charter teams.
Being a successful club coach is one role that I am most proud of. Watching a low member club with the desire to grow and share the benefits of Toastmasters come back to over chartered strength is an exciting experience. Our members have such heart.
I had the honor to be the chairperson for several Area, Division, and District contests. I was also called on to serve as Toastmaster or Chief Judge of Area or Division Speech Contests by other contest chairs. I have taught at Toastmasters Leadership Institute and am always looking for new and exciting courses that will benefit our members. I also had the pleasure of serving as the District Club Officer Mentoring Bureau Coordinator for a year. I took over as M-3 Area Governor in early 2004 and was able to reach Distinguished Area Governor for 2003-2004. Staying on as M-3 Area Governor the following year, I attained Presidents Distinguished Area Governor for 2004-2005. Being an Area Governor is work, but it's also a ton of fun! Each club in my area did the work to make their clubs successful. I am humbled to have worked with so many caring and innovative people. Continuing to work with fabulous Toastmasters the following year, I served as Assistant Metro Division Governor. I never dreamed that one day I would be the District Governor of our fabulous district. One day a leader who believed in me said "Yes, you can". I believed him. I am looking forward to Fun, Fabulous and Fenomenal year with you! On a personal note: I live with my Toastmaster husband, Gavin Kirton in Erie, Colorado with our dog Lucky. No one but a fellow Toastmaster would appreciate my love and awe for our members, so I had to marry a Toastmaster.
