Mentoring

In a recent Moments of Truth presentation, the question of mentoring was identified as an area that  we can improve. With focused purpose, we intend to make the mentor program of Downtown Toastmasters one of our BEST educational programs! Your feedback during the process of development is important.

For new members...

We will assign you a mentor shortly after your application is processed. If you prefer not to use the assistance of a mentor, simply let your assigned mentor know that you don't intend to use the mentor program aspect of the educational program.

Please complete the mentor request and new member profile  available for download (see right panel).

Ask away! Our mentors are new at this mentor gig, but we will do the best we can to assist you and help secure your success!

For established members (aka prospective mentors)...

New members want and appreciate your assistance. Please consider being a mentor. Even if you are only able to make a meeting once a month, you can offer excellent input regarding public speaking, Toastmasters International, and meeting protocol.

Take a moment and review the City of London Toastmasters information for their mentor program. Hopefully it will inspire you to help with this meaningful program.

Please complete the Mentor Interest Survey and return it the Vice President Education.

The City of London Toastmasters Club developed a couple of excellent reference pages to describe the mentoring program. The following is an excerpt and links to their web site.

A Mentor takes a personal interest in and helps someone with less experience than themselves. The Mentor serves as a role model, coach, and confidante, offering knowledge, insight, perspective, or wisdom useful to the Mentee. This empowers the Mentee to learn and advance more quickly.
