Join Us!
Dawn Yawn provides a friendly atmosphere that encourages
you to do your best, regardless of your level of
experience.
We meet
at 7 a.m. sharp on Wednesday mornings at the Sheraton Hotel in
Lakewood, Colorado. We have coffee, tea, and pastries. Most
importantly, we have a great group of people just anxious to meet
you.
What? Are
you scared you won't be quite awake at 7 a.m.? We were, too. Each
week, we're surprised that our tongues work and that we can form
complete sentences.

Guests are invited to attend three free
meetings before deciding to join. Let us know you're coming as a
guest to our meetings, please, by contacting one of our officers:

What to expect
if you're a guest.
● Since the meeting begins at 7:00, try to
arrive by 6:50 so we can introduce you to a few Dawn Yawn members,
have you write in our guest book, and get you coffee or tea and a
pastry (on us) if you so desire.
● No need to bring anything. However, at the
beginning of the meeting, the Toastmaster will ask you to provide
the group with a brief verbal explanation of your interest in
Toastmasters. Also, at the end of the meeting the Toastmaster will
ask you to share with the group any thoughts you have about the
meeting.
● About half of the group members have assigned
roles at each meeting. These include being: the day's Toastmaster
(the person who runs the meeting); the formal speakers; the formal
evaluators; the timer; and grammarian. You'll get the hang of it!
● There are usually two or three assigned
"formal" speakers. Every attendee, including you, has the option of
giving each of the speakers written feedback using a blank form we
provide.
● Our meetings also include a section called
"Table Topics" that allows participants to practice extemporaneous
speaking. The person who is in charge of Table Topics, the Table
Topics Master, calls on participants, one-at-a-time, to give a short
(1-1.5 minutes) impromptu speech on a topic presented by the Table
Topics Master. Sometimes the topics are serious, sometimes silly,
but this part of the meeting is always fun. Guests are encouraged,
but not forced, to participate.
If you
decide
to join.
If you think Dawn Yawn is a good fit, and we
hope you do, all new members are voted into the club.
Dues are $45 every six months. In addition, all
attendees pay $6 each week to offset the cost of the hotel room.
