Why Toastmasters?

Most people would rather die than give a speech, according to a survey reported in The Book Of Lists.  In this survey, fear of public speaking outranked death by a two-to-one margin.

Today's fast paced, technological world is in desperate need of good communicators and leaders.  The person with strong communications skills has a clear advantage over tongue-tied colleagues - especially in a competitive job market.

Toastmasters International, a nonprofit educational organization, has worked for more than 60 years to provide for this need and help people conquer their pre-speeches jitters.  Toastmasters is the world's largest organization devoted to developing peoples' public and interpersonal communications skills.

Since the first club was organized by Dr. Ralph Smedly in October, 1924, nearly three million men and women have enjoyed the benefits available through Toastmasters membership.  More than 180,000 members in 8,000 Toastmasters clubs currently exist in 58 countries, including four clubs in Russia.

If you would like to gain the benefits Toastmasters has to offer, you can visit any meeting as a guest without obligation.  Our FAQ page can help answer any questions you have, and our testimonial page can show you what the Toastmasters experience has done for others in the club.

Visit one of our meetings any Thursday morning. Meetings start at 7:15am sharp - be in Lobby "A" at Agilent by 7:05, and ask the guard to call the Elbert Room. Someone from the club will come to the lobby and escort you to the meeting.
