"Not many things have meant as much to me as Toastmasters has. One of the first things I discovered when first joining Apple Polishers 15 years ago is that I could practice using my broadcast skills during meetings. During my association with Toastmasters, I've been forunate to represent my club in several speech contests and have won a couple of contests, at the area level. In 2000, one of my biggest thrills was serving as an Area F-2 Governor. I was able too meet a lot of wonderful people, and visit a lot of clubs. Because of toastmasters, I have had the opportunity too meet a lot of good friends, that I will always treasure. Because of Toastmasters, I have recently joined The Professional Speakers bureau for District 26.

"I have only been at Toastmasters for 6 months, but I have learned a lot since I have been there. For me it has been particularly beneficial to hear and receive oral evaluations from others. Not only have I learned about what to improve on for myself, but I am learning how to evaluate others (this has always been hard for me during employee performance reviews). It is an area I need to improve on (as well as of course public speaking). I think one of the neat things about Apple Polishers is the diversification of our members - age, gender, occupation, ethnic backgrounds, etc. I think this makes for a really interesting group and a lot of different viewpoints."
