The Purpose of Toastmasters

Most people would rather kill themselves than give a speech, according to released by the Book Of Lists. In this survey, fear of public speaking outranked death by choice by a wide margin.Today's workforce is in desperate need of good communicators for leaders. The person with strong communication skills has a clear advantage over tongued-tied colleagues, especially in a competitive job market.

Toastmasters International, a non-profit organization, has worked for over 60 years to provide for this need and help people overcome their pre-speech phobias. Toastmasters is the world's largest organization devoted to developing professional interpersonal communication skills.Since the first club was established by Dr. Ralph Smedly in October, 1924, over 20 million men and women have enjoyed the benefits available through Toastmaster membership. There are more than 180,000 members in 8,000 Toastmaster clubs spanning over 58 countries.

Club History

Apple Polishers was chartered by the Jefferson County School District nearly twenty years ago. We have helped many folks conquer their fear of speaking in public and achieve their goals to improved communication and leadership skills. More than fifty members have achieved the Competant Toastmaster Award while more than a few have achieved advanced level ATM Bronze, Silver and Gold Presently, two members of the Apple Polishers club have Distinguished Toastmaster awards (the highest certification a Toastmaster member can possibly achieve). Apple Polisher club members have served as Area, and Division 26 officers.Our club has long been a distinguished and valued club in the Foothills Division of District 26.
